Nike Air Jordan II

1986 Nike Air Jordan II

After a sensational rookie year Michael Jordan lost most of the 1985-1986 NBA season due to a foot injury. When he came back he played with a hybrid model where the upper part was from the Jordan 1s and the sole was from what would be his new signature shoes.

The first appareance of the Nike Air Jordan 2 was a commercial filmed by Michael Jordan in the summer of 1986. The shoes were oficially released in November 1986 just in time for the start of the 1986-1987 NBA Season.

There were some revelant changes compared to the previous model. First of all the Nike Air Jordan 2 were made in Italy in the search of elegance and sophistication. Nike even said that they were the kind of sneakers that "would look great with a tux". Another change made was the absense of the famous Nike logo (The Swoosh) in favor of the The Jordan Wings.
Also initially they were released only in 2 colourways available in high or low tops.  Michael Jordan combined them in a season where he averaged a career-best 37.1 points per game.

It seems that the original molds were lost in Italy so Nike had to make new ones to launch the retro models. The first ones came as early as 1994 and since then Nike had released them in many colourways. You could take a look in the official webpage

Air Jordan XIV

Air Jordan XIV

Michael Jordan wore those shoes in only one NBA game.....but what a game. It was his last one playing for the Chicago Bulls and at the time it was supposedly his last NBA game . The Nike Air Jordan XIV made the debut at Salt Lake City, Utah on June 14th, 1998 in the game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz where Michael Jordan scored his famous jumpshot over Bryon Russell to win the game and seal his 6th NBA title.

MJ debuted the shoes in June but the Nike Air Jordan XIV were oficially released in October 31st, 1998 in White/Black-Varsity Red colourway and it wasnt until March 27th, 1999 when Nike launched the shoes in the famous “Last Shot” colourway that Jordan wore at Utah.

The shoes were inspired by the Ferrari F355F1 owned by Michael Jordan at the time. Even the jumpman logo on the side of the shoes looks like the famous Ferrari logo.

As usual with other Jordan Series the Nike Air Jordan XIV were released in many colourways and retro models. For example since the original release in 1999 the shoes in the “Last Shot” colourway have been re-released again in 2005, 2011 and 2018.
